What is Replacement (also known as Arthroplasty) ?


Replacement is a type of surgery where a orthopedic doctor changes or replaces diseased or broken portion of the joint to a new artificial joint.


Why is Replacement Surgery required?


It needs to be done for patients in whom their joints are either diseased by arthritis or are broken by fracture.


Which Joints may require replacement surgery?


Most commonly, replacement surgeries are required for knee joint and hip joint but can also be done for shoulder, elbow, ankle, wrist and hand joints.
